Color, Texture, Pattern Choice 101

I absolutely love to see men in color! Although the winter seems to force us to wear where darker colors its definitely okay to wear some color with those dark neutrals. Color and Patterns are trendy chic ways to spice up your winter look! Purple , white, green, yellow, red, and brown are some of the bold colors men are rocking this winter season. Plaids, tile print, argyle, and stripes are the sophisticated interesting way to pull your outfit together for the winter too! Oh and lets not forget about the luxurious textures, absolute MUST HAVES, leather, velvet, and mohair. They are warm and STYLISHHHHH!

Grey/Metallic
Eye popping and visually interesting for an outfit....try a scarf with metallic threads or a blazer with a metallic weave.

Brown
Love, love, love this color! Its warm, rich, and oh so chic! Fellas neutrals are always a great foundation/base color for a great causal or business look.......step your game up!

Yellows and Greens
These colors pop and go well with mostly all neutrals. Noticed I said"GO" not match , "It doesn't have to match it has to GO"! Try all neutral with a yellow or green shirt and a cable knit scarf with metallic threads.....So flyyyy!

Okay fellas so, go out and grab a few of these item like.. right.....NOW! Hope to run into some of you trendsetters.......And I know you will be looking so flyyyy!
Until Next Time....

Layers upon Layers!

Trendsetters it is officially cold outside! I hope that you are using some of the tips I have given to you over the weeks for this winter season! Here is another idea .....Layers! It's about the layers, this is a chic, trendy, and comfortable way to be stylish and warm.

If you’re walking long distances or trying to stay warm in the city, riding boots are your best bet Kirsten Dunst pairs her boots with Skinny Jeans and warm layers on top. Lets discuss a few of the prominent details of this look!

Boots
Rider boots can come in all styles, but we are talking about the original riding boot which are flatter in heel length. They are perfect for a chic look and a comfortable for a long day of walking and shopping!

Oversized Hobo Bag
We all love cluthches, but Oversized Hobo bags are the best, although we tend to carry the world at times, its such a statement! Large bags in bright colors are my suggestion they make a plain outfit pop and give a focal point. Now, Blacks and browns are hot too, but find ones with some detail ( ex. studs, stiching, hardware, etc.).

Scarves and Gloves
Get funky and find some fingerless gloves! Fingerless gloves are so 80's and so hottttt! Large chunky knit scarves and cable knit scarves in bright colors, patterns and prints are hot and can transform and outfit into a fun and casual chic look.

Layers
Layering long sleeve tees and short sleeve graphic tees is super cute! Layering has been around few the past couple of seasons! Shirts, hoodies, short jackets, bombers, cardigans are all perfect items, that we all own, that can be layered! Layering is a way to stay warm while expressing your trendsetting style. Throw on a few things where colors don't even relate and I am sure it will still be a great causal, yet chic look!

I am not a fan of the cold, but I love the wardrobe! So before we go on that next shopping extravaganza or causal outing with our boo let's add a few things to the outfit. Add layers upon layers and few other things in between! Love u guys!

Until Next Time!

Invest in Timeless Style!

Shopping with Hollywood over the weekend gave me a thought......Splurging from time to time on items in your wardrobe is an investment?! Thoughts?? Let's Think....By spending a little more sometimes on an item your investing in fit, style, fabric, plain overall quality! Now, that makes sense! Yes, I know we are in a recession, but there are things we should spend more money on which would = making an investment! If you are willing to spend $250-$450 on a tattoo, then why not carry out the same mentality with your wardrobe? I promise if you begin to invest in your wardrobe you will have these items FOREVER!

I'm not taking anything away from the less expensive stores or brands, but usually after minimal washes it's time to buy something new! I bought a pair of $250 pointed toed kitten heels by ce' fou shoo in a local boutique about 3 or 4 years ago and they are still in mint condition! Oh, and did I forget oh so comfortable! I will have these shoes forever ! Over the weekend BCBG had an awesome promotion : Spend $300 and get $100, although I didn't purchase anything Hollywood definetly did! A grey, black, and blue dress that could be worn in ALL seasons ! That speaks volumes which means she is getting her monies worth! And the second item, the cutest little grey and black two toned knit skirt that can be worn high waisted or lower as a pencil skirt. Investments were made and the trendsetter majorly encouraged ;)!

Now, don't think you have to buy quality at regular price, hit the sale and or clearance rack! Thats what I do -----> and no one ever knew until now :)! Dressing on a budget is something we all do, but I suggest this....Begin to invest in a nice pair of slacks, a blouse, a blazer, and nice under garments ( because you need a great foundation)! I was once told that the quality of fashion years ago was much better than today! And on that note....I encourage, again, vintage shopping! The vintage pieces I have consist of multiple leather coats, scarves, skirts, and jewelry! These pieces are of grade A quality and are timeless, pieces I will have forever!

Well guys, splurge a little more and invest a little more often; so you can create a great look of timeless style! Because timeless style is forever! INVEST!

Until Next Time....

Follow the Inspiration!

A friend of mine made an interesting comment a few days ago in reference to twitter. He said "I have never been a follower, that's why I don't agree with twitter". I had to actually sit quiet for a minute and think, WOW we "Follow" celebrities, friends, or whomever on this particular social network. So, I began to think a bit deeper about this word "Follow", why do most in our society feel the need to "follow" not only others, but celebrities?

We have discussed many times what a trendsetter is, but when we actually analyze thoroughly most things life, especially fashion have been done before just in a differnet way! The things we do are inspired or influenced by something or someone and ultimately in some strange way make us a follower, well, to some degree. The Trendsetter strives for uniqueness and to just plain be a leader! But who doesn't strive for this? Or better yet, who wants to blend in and not stand out?

How does the saying go, "lead by example". So, lets start something new...let's not follow let's be inspiration! Let's inspire each other to reach new ideas, goals, and aspirations so we set forth something great! And because this is a fashion blog and its all about fashion Please, do it in style! Fashion is, so I am ....without this multi-million dollar business called fashion there would be no passion for me to help inspire! If you want to follow something or someone let it be you! Follow your passion, that something that makes your clock tick and cherish and love every moment! Be Fab and Inspire!

Until Next Time...

The Fav8 Winter Must Haves

This Winter season there are some hottt essentials or should I say like always "MUST HAVES". I believe we talked once before about how fashion is a repeating cycle. Well, this seasons cycle seems to have reinvented 80's,vintage and grunge details mixed with some sex appeal! So lets take a glance at what the fav8 will be!

Thigh High Boots
They are sexy and stylish! This is a winter must-have every year, but this year we want them taller! And if you aren't the biggest fan of heels please, feel free to find a wedge or flat pair!

Cloaks and Capes
They use to be seen as an "old woman" item. Child please.....this is such a chic and sophisticated item that looks good with everything from jeans to dresses.

Leather Clothing
Just like thigh high boots, leather is so sexy! It's all about the leather this year, and not just jackets! We are talking dresses, leggings, long gloves, and so much more. Spice up your look with a bomber or swing coat too! Or be like me, a true trendsetter, and find a vintage leather!

Chunky Knits
Sweaters with an open weave that show a bit of skin, makes such a statement! Your not only limited to showing skin, you can pick out a cardigan or boyfriend sweater also. This can be paired with leggings, sexy thigh high boots, or the next fav8....

Ripped Jeans
Such an 80's inspired item! They are stylish, chic, edgy, and comfortable it doesnt get bettter than that! I wear mine all the time, actually I need a few new pair :)! Now, go find a mid-length cape to pair with them and you will be ready to go!

Ripped Stockings and Tights
Oh, I remember when I hated tights! And now I love em'! They are colorful, patterned, and ripped up! This is a perfect item to add just a bit of flair to and outfit! Place them with a dress or even under your ripped jeans for a peek-a-boo surprise!

Military Style
This is going to be a staple to a trendsetter's wardrobe! This will add that funky element to that "OH SO BORING" outfit! It is such a sharp look when you have something so structured with strong details paired with something as plain as a tank and jeans---->not so boring anymore!

Asymmetrical Shirts
They show off your shoulders and collar bone. This is a beautiful and feminine sexy item to add to your wardrobe. It shows just enough skin that it isnt overly revealing. Pair it with a high waisted skirt, ripped jeans, or leather leggings...thats super cute!

The Fav8 are for a Trendsetter's wardrobe. Add 1, 2, or 3 to your shopping list or add them ALL! And if you have a few from yeas ago, pull them out because they will due just fine! HINT HINT---> Great opportunity to go thrift shopping! The Fav8 is inspiring and fashion forward just like the trendsetter! Stay warm and enjoy the Fav8 Must Haves of the season!

Until Next Time....

White Mite be Rite!

Whoever said that’s it is law to not wear white in the winter? Or better yet not to wear white after Labor Day? Yes, it has been said from generation to generation that wearing white after labor is not allowed. And that we should place all white bags and shoes away until the spring/summer season begins the next year. But Why? Really, has anyone seen the book where this is written? Sheesh…Who Started this ridiculous myth?

I don’t believe it to matter what season white is worn. Let’s evaluate here for a minute. Why create white handbags, shoes, coats, and etc. to sell in the winter if they are not to be purchased and worn. Why include these items in a fall/winter collection if there is such a law? And that’s the point, there isn’t one!

After doing a bit a research it was difficult to find one strong straight answer. Originally, the rule was more along the lines of "Only wearing white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day." Furthermore, it mainly applied to white pumps or dress shoes. Winter white" clothing (e.g., cream-colored wool) is said to be acceptable between Labor Day and Memorial Day. Research suggests that because white reflects light and heat, wearing white would make you cooler in winter, and thus should be avoided. But others suggest the rule stems from a class issue. In the late 19th century and the 1950s, more people were entering the middle classes. These nouveau-riche folks were often unaware of the standards of high society, so they were given specific codified rules to follow in order to fit in.

I, the trendsetter, have already expressed my definition of a trendsetter, "Fashion without restriction". You should feel free to wear whatever makes sense to you! I encourage wearing white; it is such a beautiful color! White is a clean color that creates a sharp look and ties coordinates together. Carrying a white handbag or wearing a white boots makes a statement; it’s actually a bit rebellious considering the myth! And that is always a great feeling in fashion to stand out and not follow the beliefs and trends of others. If you aren’t quite comfortable yet with the idea of wearing white than ease into it with small amounts. Try a boot or shoe that shares white with another color, or a small clutch or ballet flat opposed to an entire white boot. Designer Anara Original airbrushed a white boot with a gray and teal geometric pattern in 2005, which is a perfect item to ease into wearing white. I am positive that once you have seen how beautiful the finished look is you will want to move to bigger and bolder pieces.

Forget about the "so-called" rules and do what you know how to do best, "Set Trends"!

Until Next Time…

The Oh So Necessary Accessory

We all have them; we all love them, and probably cant live without them. They complete an outfit, complementing most looks to absolute business chic. Yes, they have become a leading and oh so necessary accessory, you guessed it Cell phones!

We have definitely graduated from plain and boring basic black or gray flip phones. The most popular of phones are smart phones or touch screen devices. Blackberry and Iphones RULE the cell phone kingdom not only for their appearance, but their increasing capability to allow you to remain connected to everything and everyone. Their capability is so great that just about every social network can be downloaded to your cell phone in a mobile version! If you are not walking around texting, twittering, facebooking, or emailing most would believe something to be wrong! I personally couldn’t live with out my blackberry; trust me I tried and I didn’t do well!

I am sure your asking,” How in the world has a cell phone become a fashion accessory?” Well, when you look at a person you usually see the “extras” that aid in completing their look (i.e. scarves, jewelry, etc.). Now, we see cell phones along with those “extra” things! Walking around or pulling out a smart phone screams, “SWAGGER” and who doesn’t want that! They come in colors, they even have accessories of their own like; bluetooths, leather cases, skins, charms and many others. So, I encourage you to dress up your phone, customize it and make it an extension of you or keep it simply plain and classic like me!

So, for all of you who aren’t upgraded to the smart phone accessory….ummm.. It’s time to join the fun with the oh so necessary accessory! P.S. here are a few helpful places to begin

But I Need It............

Fashion isn’t just for women; it’s for men too! A close friend of mine is always asking, “When are you going to blog about something for the fellas”? So MSN this one’s for you! So use it wisely!

It appears that fall is approaching more quickly this year then usual. So fellas, its time to go to your favorite shops to pick your “MUST HAVES” or what I like to call your “I WANTS” for the season!

Cardigans

Is a classic and essential item to have in your closet. And they aren’t so stuffy like the ones our “pop – pops” wore time ago. They are slimmer, they have color, and style. Pair them with jeans or casual slacks. You could even layer them under a blazer given the fabric choice.

Pinstriped Pants

Now we aren’t talking wide gaudy striped pants here! Find a nice slack that has thin stripes, whether they are classic white or color on color contrasted. Consider a striped shirt with color or a cardigan for a well put together casual look.

Blazers

YES, you should have a blue, black, or brown blazer in your wardrobe, but this isn’t the blazer I am referring too! Choose a blazer that has personality, one with color and style. Look for patches, graffiti, graphics, or texture. This is a statement item; it should be able to speak without much help! Play this item up with a cardigan and slack or play it down with jeans and a hoodie.

Striped shirts

Get some color in your life! There are other colors than black and white, didn’t you know that? This is the perfect item to give your outfit the punch it needs! The stripes can be the same color in multiple tones or mutli-colored (i.e. yellow and cream). Throw on some slacks and loafers or jeans and high top retro sneaker. And YES I said sneakers!

Jeans

Jeans can be the staple to any outfit. Find a few different pairs. Look for GREAT fit, multiple styles (i.e. boot cut, straight leg…), and shade (i.e. dark, dark with brown rinse….). This is an item you must have and will have forever, SO INVEST!

Now, if you are a real stylish and fashion forward guy you may even be interested in a few accessories to complete your look!

Leather Gloves & Wool/Cashmere Scarves
Theses items will keep you warm. Black or brown leather gloves are basic in color and compliment any coat! Solid color scarves are nice, but a tartan scarf will make any coat pop and stand out.

Umbrellas

That’s easy who wants to get rained on? A nice big umbrella in solid or plaid will keep you nice and dry!

Sunglasses

Just because its cold doesn’t mean the sun doesn’t exist! One of the ultimate accessories for guys are SHADES ….You have free rain what ever pair compliments you I say BUY THEM! Aviators are one of the hottest styles right now, hint hint!

And NO, every “MUST HAVE” won’t work for every guy. Find a look that works for your personality and lifestyle, and like I tell the ladies, OWN IT! Where ever fashion leads you, make a statement, be a TRENDSETTER! Oh I forgot and PLEASE stay warm!

Until next time….
