The Oh So Necessary Accessory

We all have them; we all love them, and probably cant live without them. They complete an outfit, complementing most looks to absolute business chic. Yes, they have become a leading and oh so necessary accessory, you guessed it Cell phones!

We have definitely graduated from plain and boring basic black or gray flip phones. The most popular of phones are smart phones or touch screen devices. Blackberry and Iphones RULE the cell phone kingdom not only for their appearance, but their increasing capability to allow you to remain connected to everything and everyone. Their capability is so great that just about every social network can be downloaded to your cell phone in a mobile version! If you are not walking around texting, twittering, facebooking, or emailing most would believe something to be wrong! I personally couldn’t live with out my blackberry; trust me I tried and I didn’t do well!

I am sure your asking,” How in the world has a cell phone become a fashion accessory?” Well, when you look at a person you usually see the “extras” that aid in completing their look (i.e. scarves, jewelry, etc.). Now, we see cell phones along with those “extra” things! Walking around or pulling out a smart phone screams, “SWAGGER” and who doesn’t want that! They come in colors, they even have accessories of their own like; bluetooths, leather cases, skins, charms and many others. So, I encourage you to dress up your phone, customize it and make it an extension of you or keep it simply plain and classic like me!

But I Need It............

Fashion isn’t just for women; it’s for men too! A close friend of mine is always asking, “When are you going to blog about something for the fellas”? So MSN this one’s for you! So use it wisely!

It appears that fall is approaching more quickly this year then usual. So fellas, its time to go to your favorite shops to pick your “MUST HAVES” or what I like to call your “I WANTS” for the season!

Cardigans
Is a classic and essential item to have in your closet. And they aren’t so stuffy like the ones our “pop – pops” wore time ago. They are slimmer, they have color, and style. Pair them with jeans or casual slacks. You could even layer them under a blazer given the fabric choice.

Pinstriped Pants
Now we aren’t talking wide gaudy striped pants here! Find a nice slack that has thin stripes, whether they are classic white or color on color contrasted. Consider a striped shirt with color or a cardigan for a well put together casual look.

Blazers
YES, you should have a blue, black, or brown blazer in your wardrobe, but this isn’t the blazer I am referring too! Choose a blazer that has personality, one with color and style. Look for patches, graffiti, graphics, or texture. This is a statement item; it should be able to speak without much help! Play this item up with a cardigan and slack or play it down with jeans and a hoodie.

Striped shirts
Get some color in your life! There are other colors than black and white, didn’t you know that? This is the perfect item to give your outfit the punch it needs! The stripes can be the same color in multiple tones or mutli-colored (i.e. yellow and cream). Throw on some slacks and loafers or jeans and high top retro sneaker. And YES I said sneakers!

Jeans
Jeans can be the staple to any outfit. Find a few different pairs. Look for GREAT fit, multiple styles (i.e. boot cut, straight leg…), and shade (i.e. dark, dark with brown rinse….). This is an item you must have and will have forever, SO INVEST!

Now, if you are a real stylish and fashion forward guy you may even be interested in a few accessories to complete your look!

Leather Gloves & Wool/Cashmere Scarves
Theses items will keep you warm. Black or brown leather gloves are basic in color and compliment any coat! Solid color scarves are nice, but a tartan scarf will make any coat pop and stand out.


Umbrellas
That’s easy who wants to get rained on? A nice big umbrella in solid or plaid will keep you nice and dry!

Sunglasses
Just because its cold doesn’t mean the sun doesn’t exist! One of the ultimate accessories for guys are SHADES ….You have free rain what ever pair compliments you I say BUY THEM! Aviators are one of the hottest styles right now, hint hint!


And NO, every “MUST HAVE” won’t work for every guy. Find a look that works for your personality and lifestyle, and like I tell the ladies, OWN IT! Where ever fashion leads you, make a statement, be a TRENDSETTER! Oh I forgot and PLEASE stay warm!

The not so “new” Tartan look, also known currently as the “Lumber Jack” look has invaded the runway once again! The Tartan look has been continuously worn and reinvented since the 1940’s. It’s a classic look that will never die. This look can be adapted to anyone’s style! Let’s see, Beyonce, Lauren Conrad, Rihanna, and Victoria Beckham have sported this Scottish inspired pattern.

Tartan is so versatile! It can be dressed down for an evening at the movies, or dressed up for a more sophisticated look for business. Everyone believes they are a TRENDSETTER! Everyone, well most, want to set themselves apart from others, so what makes you a trendsetter? What makes you stand out and not blend in with the crowd? What actually is the true definition of a trendsetter?

According to the dictionary, it states it's someone who popularizes a new fashion. The Trendsetter's definition is simple Fashion without restriction! A Trendsetter is a leader of fashion and style. Their sense of expression is inspired by all eras of fashion and surrounding elements. A Trendsetter is someone who sets forth a tone for creative and innovative style. Trendsetters can own any style and introduce it in a new way! Its simple find you voice in fashion, own it, and ROCK IT!

Fashion is all about expressing yourself from color choice to fabric choice. Don't allow fear to dictate your voice in fashion. When my fashion choices are misunderstood, its apparent to me at that moment, that I have spoken as a TRUE trendsetter. Now mark my words, those who discourage and point are soon to follow! So, next time you open your closet and have a thought of pairing some over sized cargo army fatigue pants with a graphic tee, beautifully structured blazer and cute fall booties, THE Trendsetter says "DO IT" and "OWN IT"! And top it off with over sized hoop earrings, and bangles and don't forget the untouchable attitude!

Last evening Delawareblack.com held a mix n’ mingle at one of the hot spots in Wilmington, De, CW Harborside on the Riverfront. The atmosphere was casual chic with beautiful décor, warm browns, camels, and New York style exposed brick created an inviting ambiance for its customers.

She says, “ A denim jacket can make a plain dress like this not so average”. Jessy accessorizes this look with stacked bracelets and sexy patent strappy heels. She adds the finishing touch with a classic black quilted Chanel handbag…. So Cute!!!!!!!!!!! Simply Chic!

This fall fashionable boots are the highlight of the season! GONE are the days of ONLY black and brown shoes! Pick a pair that has a personality and flair, make a statement! The VMA's Evolution of FASHION ICONS

The VMA’s are a haven for `fashionable celebrities, aspiring artists, but most of all FASHION ICONS!

The 2009 VMA’s were held at the famous Radio City Music Hall in one of the most inspiring fashionable cities in the world New York City! I must say “hands down” the most inspired highlight of the evening was the trendsetting “Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty” Janet Jackson. She opened the show with innovative style and grace. Sporting a white and black leather ensemble with silver studding. She gave an outstanding tribute to her late brother Michael J. Jackson. She ripped the stage with her solo …well not so solo duet to “SCREAM" with her brother playing via video in the background,

The tribute was not only about the music of MJ, but the iconic fashion of MJ shown to us over the years. The dancers wore everything from the infamous red leather from “BEAT IT” to the open shirt look with t-shirt from “IN THE CLOSET”. Over the years MJ set himself apart from millions by his gracious presence and his style!! He didn’t seem to mind EXPRESSING himself creatively in every way possible. I mean really……who didn’t moon walk across the floor a few times with their one glove on? Sheesh I still wear my one glove when I want to add a bit of edge to an outfit! And although we didn’t always understand the why’s of his fashion choices we were inspired by something without a doubt! He wasn’t just a TRENDSETTER he was a fashion icon!

Now lets back track for a minute….How fitting was it for one of the most innovative Icons of all time to introduce another? Who other than the risk taking and fabulous Madonna. She was dressed in all black with a leather structured close fitted jacket with zipper detail. Let’s take a look at her evolution over the years!


Oh and we can’t forget about our young and beautiful, icon, on every level Ms Beyonce Knowles or “Ms. Carter”. She has given show-stopping performances and trendsetting innovative style at its best! Always chic and other times funky and edgy too! Let’s take a peek at the Bey evolution!
